Uganda, Zimbabwe finish on a high

Uganda were full of celebrations after they shocked Germany to win the Bowl final at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town on Sunday.

The Ugandan team, and their travelling group of supporters have captured the hearts of local fans with their passion, and it was telling that they finished the tournament on a high by beating a highly-rated German team.

Captain Philip Wokorach scored the opening try and was followed onto the scoreboard by Ian Munyani and his brother Michael as they outscored the Germans three tries to two.

The bowl is effectively 17th spot in the World Cup as all teams play to the final day to determine placings.

Afterwards the Ugandans celebrated and Wokorach was in good spirits when he spoke to SuperSport’s Ricky Schroeder.

Earlier, Zimbabwe finished off their tournament on a high by beating Jamaica 31-17 in the playoff for 23rd spot.

Sam Phiri, captain Kudzai Mashawi, Munopa Muneta, Munesu Muneta and Nigel Tinarwo all scored as South Africa’s neighbours were all smiles as their tournament ended.
