Rea sets new lap record as he claims pole in Aragon

Jonathan Rea produced a stunning race to claim first place in the World Superbike Championship at Aragon, Spain.

Loriz Baz set the pace in the opening lap, while Jonathan Rea went quickest thereafter as Danilo Petrucci fell off his bike leaving his hopes of claiming pole in the dust.

Toprak Razgatioglu then produced a stunning lap which was within one tenth of the all time record to get within two tenths of Rea's top time.

Rea turned on the style at the start of the final run, while in sector three set a new lap record.

Alvaro Bautista pipped Razgatlioglu to second spot, although the series leader was still over three tenths down.
