Leruma, Urban Warriors under the spotlight once again

As the battle to remain in the Motsepe Foundation Championship continues, both Cape Town Spurs and Leruma United will engage in crucial matchday 22 fixtures this weekend.

Sitting at the base of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table this season, Leruma United face arguably the toughest task of this weekend’s fixture list when they take on log leaders Durban City at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday.

Despite being unbeaten in their last three matches, Leruma will undertake their next league assignment on the back of draws against Baroka and Highbury respectively.

In what has been a torrid campaign for Leruma, the Daveyton side has accumulated just 18 points all season.

Then, sitting just one point ahead of Leruma in 15th position, Cape Town Spurs will be away to Baroka at the Global Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The Urban Warriors suffered a damaging 2-1 defeat against Venda Football Academy last time out, and were unable to build on their 2-1 win against Highbury in the prior fixture.

After their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship in 2024, Spurs will hope to avoid another drop after amassing just 19 points so far this season.
