The DStv Diski Challenge title race will be decided on the final day of the 2023-24 season on Saturday.

After 29 matches, there was no outright winner. It remained a two-horse race between Stellenbosch FC and Mamelodi Sundowns.

After 29 league matches, Stellenbosch occupy the No 1 spot on the table with 66 points. They are three points ahead of Sundowns, who are lying in the second spot with 63 points from the same number of outings.

Here, we break down who can clinch the title and how on the final day.

All the Diski Challenge matches will kick off simultaneously on Saturday.

THE LEAGUE TITLE

For the second time in the space of three seasons, the title will be decided on the final day.

During the 2021-22 season, Stellenbosch and SuperSport United were still in with a shot of taking home the title on the final day.

During that season, SuperSport won their match 2-0 and Stellenbosch had to come from a goal down to claim a 2-1 victory and lift the trophy at the expense of TS Galaxy.

This weekend, Stellenbosch find themselves in a two-horse race with Sundowns.

The Winelands-based outfit holds a three-point advantage at the top of the table.

Stellenbosch will be crowned this season's champions if:

- They get a point (which is a draw) against Golden Arrows

- Sundowns fail to get a win against Moroka Swallows

- Sundowns' only chance of winning the title on the final day is if they win against Swallows with four or more goals and Stellenbosch lose to Arrows.

Sundowns last won the DStv Diski Challenge in the 2016-17 season. It was their first and last time. Now, they are on the verge of making it two titles in nine years of Diski Challenge action.

On the flip side, Stellenbosch has also won the Diski Challenge title once, in the 2021-22 season. They went on to represent Mzansi in the UK and won the NextGeneration Cup in the same year.
