Yalew joins Egyptian club ZED FC
Ethiopia international striker and St George star Abel Yalew has signed for Egyptian Club ZED FC.
The young striker has been a standout performer for St George, so it will be a big blow for the Horsemen to lose his service.
Yalew leaves as the highest goal scorer of the league this season with eight goals in 12 league appearances.
Yalew was part of the St George team that won the Ethiopia Premier League title in the last two seasons.
Yalew joined St George on August 1, 2018 from Dedebit.
He has performed well over the last five years and formed great partnerships with the likes of Amanuel Gebremichael, Togoleses star Ismail Ouro-Agoro, Addis Gidey, Markeneh and the legendary duo of Salhadein Seid and Getaneh Kebede.
He scored his first goal in his first match against Sihul Shire after coming on as a substitute in a game where he eventually netted twice.
An emotional Yalew bid his club and fans goodbye.
"I want to thank all the St George fans, my teammates through the years, all my coaches and the club president, Abnet Gebremeskel, for their support."
