Chego crowned DStv eKasi Games champions

Chego 17 pocketed R250 000 after being crowned the inaugural DStv eKasi Champ Of Champs kings after beating Chipolopolo in an epic final that produced six goals on Sunday at Orlando Stadium.

Hailing from the DStv Premiership Champions hometown, Mamelodi Sundowns in Mamelodi, Chego rubber stamped Pretoria’s dominance after winning the dreaded penalty shootout 4-3 following a 3-3 draw in regulation time.

Sibonelo Mkhonza opened the floodgates in the 22nd minute for Chipolopolo and then Mpho Mlangeni doubled their lead in the 40th minute with a beautiful goal.

Talisman Elriker Pandamoya pulled one back for Chego in the 43rd minute and Mmereki Sebone followed up with the equalizing goal right on the stroke of halftime to setup an epic showdown in the second stanza.

In the second half, Temptation Chiwunga gave Chego the lead with top drawer goal in the 65th minute much to excitement of the fans that included drummers.

Action continued from one end to the other with Chego looking to preserve their lead while Chipolopolo looked for the equalizer which eventually came from the boot of Mpho Mlangeni to send the match to a dreaded penalty shootout.
