Rea breaks lap record to secure Donington pole

Kawasaki rider Jonathan Rea claimed the 2022 World Superbike Superpole at Donington Park with a new lap record during qualifying on Saturday.

Rea unleashed incredible speed in the early stages of qualifying and smashed the previous lap record by 0.561s.

The Kawasaki rider was followed by teammate Alex Lowes +0.273s back, while in third was Yamaha's reigning world champion Toprak Razgatlioglu (+0.426s)

Alvaro Bautista joins Redding and Ducati teammate Michael Rinaldi on row two.

Honda's Iker Lecuona, Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha) and Yamaha rider Andrea Locatelli will form row three.
