Skepe Nketole continued their fine form in the Philly's Games with a 2-1 win over Abarondoli in the first leg of their quarterfinal at the Phomolong Sports Grounds on Friday.

Both teams started like a house on fire and were on the scoresheet within the first 10 minutes of the match and it was 1-1 at halftime.

The 'Helicopter Boys' bossed the midfield through Karabo Shakes Mkhabela in the second half and their pressure paid off as they scored the winner to take the spoils 2-1.

Defending champions, One Lion took on The Hot B Team in the midday clash.

One Lions scored through a penalty in the 30th minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Hot B Team restored parity in the second half, but the defending champions managed to dig deep and find the winner.

In the 2pm kickoff it was Alex v Tembisa as Gomora United took on last year's runners-up Isithembiso.

A goal in the first half by the Alex side saw them go into the break leading 1-0, but the Tembisa side equalised in the second.

Gomora were reduced to 10 men when one of their players was sent off, but Isithembiso could not take advantage and it will be all to play for in the second leg on Saturday as the first leg ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

In a much-anticipated clash between two crowd favourites, Mambas FC took on Rebels FC in the final game of the day.

It became a battle of skill and talent in front of more than 5 000 fans.

Neither team could convert their chances as the first half failed to produce any goals.

The second half, although highly entertaining, was more of the same as neither team could find the back of the net and they had to settle for a goalless draw.

The tournament moves to Esqongweni for the second leg fixtures of the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Rebels are home to Mambas FC at 10am, The midday clash sees Gomora up against Isithembiso and at One Lion take on The Hot B Team at 2pm.
