Mambas FC scored the fastest goal in the history of the Philly's Games on Thursday.

The poisonous snakes struck within the first 30 seconds of their clash against Futhi Futhi at the Phomolong Sports Ground and were two goals up as early as the fifth minute.

Their shell-shocked opponents made a comeback in the second half to force a 2-2 draw, but it wasn’t enough as the Mambas slithered into the quarterfinals with a 4-2 aggregate win.

In the mid-day clash, Rebels FC, whose tournament mantra seem to be "score, consolidate and defend", were up against Musa United.

The first leg ended in a 1-1 stalemate, but a goal in each half of the second leg saw the Riverlea side progress to the next round (3-1 on aggregate).

In the 2pm kickoff, last year's runners-up, Isithembiso took on Soweto side Mudagasi.

It was goalless after the first leg, but Isthembiso quickly stamped their authority in this match-up.

A goal in the first half and three more in the second clinched an emphatic 4-0 win for Isthembiso and saw Mudagasi knocked out of the tournament.

The Phomolong side still remains very much on track to get to the finals yet again.

The final game of the afternoon saw Alexander team Gomora FC come into their second-leg clash with the Ambassadors with a 2-0 advantage.

The Ambassadors were on the charge in second-leg match-up and scored in the first half.

Unfortunately for the Tembisa side, they couldn’t add to their tally and even though they won the game it wasn't enough to prevent Gomora from securing a spot in the last 8.

In Friday's quarterfinal fixtures Skepe Nketole take on Abarondoli at 10am, while The Hot B Team are up against One Lion at noon.

Isithembiso face off against Gomora United at 2pm, while Rebels and AT Mambas lock horns in the final game of the day at 4pm.
