Izidla Mlilo became the first team to be knocked out of the 2023 edition of the Philly's games on Friday at the Ema 7 football ground in Ivory Park.

Mlilo lost 2-1 on aggregate to Amandla FC after 180 minutes of football. The team from Tembisa came into the game, having lost 2-0 on the opening day of the tournament. Despite winning today’s match by a solitary goal, Izidla Mlilo did not do enough to take the game to a penalty shootout

Match two of the day saw Sunrise FC from Lephalale in Limpopo take on Hot B Team. Sunrise had won the 1st leg on Wednesday 3-2, but it was B Team’s day today as they won the encounter 3-0. At the end of the two-legged encounter, Hot B Team won 5-3 on aggregate and became the second team to move to the next round, while Sunrise were dumped out of the 32nd edition.

In the 2 pm kickoff, Abarondoli beat current DStv Champ of Champs Mpumalanga Side Phaphama FC 1-0. They move on to the next round with a 3-2 aggregate after the 1st leg ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

Skepe Nketole stole the show before their 4 pm kickoff against Cheese FC. Skepe players arrived in a Helicopter which landed at the centre of the field, for the players to get off already kitted and ready for the game.

Nketole got off to a great start and were on the score sheet, early in the first stanza. The goal proved to be enough to see them through to the next round on a 1-0 aggregate after the 1st leg ended goalless.

There will be a change of venue on Saturday as the next round of games move to the Etafuleni football grounds in Rabie Ridge. Mambas FC will face MFDN FC at 10 am, and at midday, Musa United are up against Naseem Aca FC. The 2 pm kickoff sees Marashia take on Mudagasi FC and in the final game of the day at 4 pm, Soweto Super United take on Gomora United.
