Gomora United continued their rich vein of form in front of goal on Boxing Day when they took on Ambassadors FC in the last 16 of the 32nd edition of the Philly's Games played at the Etafuleni football grounds in Ivory Park.

Two goals in the first stanza were enough for the Alexandra-based team to secure a 2-0 win ahead of the second leg on Thursday afternoon.

Last year's runners up Isithembiso began this edition’s campaign in the midday kick-off against Soweto side Mudagasi. The game ended with neither side being able to score, as 90 minutes of football produced a goalless stalemate.

In the 2pm kick-off, popular Riverlea side Rebels FC, the 2014 champions, took on Kathlehong team Musa FC. A goal for each side in the first half completed the script as the game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, with the second leg set for Thursday.

In the final game of the day, crowd favourites Mambas FC faced Futhi Futhi. The poisonous snakes scored a goal in each half through Tshepo Sibiya and Nkosinathi Ononogbo, allowing them to take a two-goal advantage into the second leg on Thursday morning, as the game ended 2-0.

Looking at Wednesday's fixtures, the games move to the Phomolong sports field. At 10am, One Lion face Amandla FC, while the midday kick-off sees Destroyers up against The Hot B Team. In the 2pm, kick-off Ama BEE are up against Abarondoli, while the final game of the day sees Skepe Nkatole taking on Makgaola Academy.
