The round of 16 of the 31st edition of the Philly's Games kicked of on Friday at the Etafuleni grounds in Ivory Park Tembisa.

Thirty minutes before the day's action started, the ground was already packed as many fans were looking forward to seeing AT Mambas take on local team One Lion.

The early game between Mambas and One Lions had everything -- goals cards, skill and flair. In the end the two teams had to settle for a 3-3 draw with the second leg to be played on 26 December at 4pm.

Ambassador FC, meanwhile, began their title defence at the same venue, and looked like a team possessed as they scored three quick goals with no reply against Musa United who finished one man down after their player was sent off.

It was then the Rebels' turn as they took on Bayekane FC. It was end to end stuff, with both teams creating chances and hitting the post several times. It took former Highlands Park and well-travelled player Jose Garcia to separate the two teams, much to the delight of the 14 000 spectators,

The last game pitted tender boys Ama BEE against Izidla Mlilo. There wasn't much action in this game as it was battle in the middle of the park. In the end it was a goalless draw, but the two teams will have another go in the second leg.

Ten goals were scored on day five of the competition, with all the matches broadcast live on SuperSport channel 202 and 209.

Day six will see Gwara-Gwara FC take on Boko Futhi FC at 10am, the midday kickoff features Jonet 015 FC against Destroyers FC and then at 2pm Doornkop FC square off against Makagola Academy.

In the last game of the day, Isithembiso play Phanda Phanda.
