Coach Fasil Tekalign has joined Adama City who are looking to produce a much more successful Betking Ethiopia Premier League campaign than the disastrous 2020/21 season where they ended up relegated from the league.

They will only play in the big leagues now because the new season will feature 16 teams as opposed to 13 teams that played last season.

The former fullback, who had made waves in midfield for clubs like Medin FC, Défense FC and of course perennial Ethiopian champions St George, has penned a two-year deal.

It was his old club, St George, who offered him his first chance of coaching their youth team in the late 90s and his achievements with the junior team earned him rave reviews.

Adama have also signed new players -- goalkeeper Jamal Tassew, midfielder Yosef Yohannes, left back Desta Johannes and Mentesot Adane.

Tassew is a good acquisition because he is one of the more experienced keepers in Ethiopia having played for Ethio Electric, Dedebit, Hawassa City, Mekele, Dire Dawa City and Fasil Kenema.
