Tricky Boys and Academy book spots in plate final

The second phase of this year's DStv eKasi Champ of Champs kicked off on Thursday afternoon at the Moletsane Sport Complex in Soweto.

The first plate semifinal saw Chiawelo's Tricky Boys take on Aston Villa.

The match produced six excellent goals and eventually had to be settled through the lottery of a penalty shootout after the two teams were deadlocked at 3-3 at the end of regulation time.

Tricky Boys won the shootout 6-5 after sudden death to book their spot in the plate final.

The second plate semifinal between P&S Academy and Shaka United proved to be equally exciting.

It was all square at 1-1 at the halftime break.

United took the lead in the 48th minute, but Academy levelled matters in the 59th minute.

The team from Limpopo scored the winner in the 79th minute to seal the match 3-2 and secure a spot in Sunday's plate final against Tricky Boys.

The battle for a place in the Cup final starts on Friday with Major1 taking on Skepe Nketole at 1pm, followed by AT Mambas up against Newcastle Young Chiefs at 3pm.
