Ethiopia Nigd Bank go clear, Mekelakeya held by Coffee

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, otherwise known as Ethiopia Nigd Bank, beat Sidama Coffee 1-0 on Sunday, while title rivals Mekelakeya and Ethiopia Coffee ended in a draw.

Ethiopia Coffee started like a house on fire but did not take their early chances against Mekelakeya.

Minyilu Wondimu was brought down, and he stepped up for Mekelakeya to convert the penalty kick, making it 1-0.

However, Ethiopia Coffee equalised just before halftime through Amanuel Admasu. There were no further goals in the game and it remained 1-1.

The draw means that Commercial Bank of Ethiopia had to swoop for three points to go further ahead of the chasing pack.

They made no mistake, beating Sidama Coffee 1-0 to take their points haul to 45 points, five clear of Mekelakeya on 40 points.

It wasn't an easy game for the Bankers as Sidama Coffee made them work for almost 90 minutes without a goal.

However, cometh the hour, cometh the man, as Basiru Umar was on target for CBE in the 85th minute to secure a narrow 1-0 win.
