Early-season pacesetters Green Buffaloes are chasing a fifth win in a row when they travel to newly-promoted Chambishi in the MTN Super League on Saturday.

Their form is a continuation of the excellent finish to last season and they have won 10 of their last 15 games (D4 L1), which will have them, in many people’s thoughts, early challengers for the title, with the last of their five Zambia league trophies coming 40 years ago in 1981.

Chambishi got their first victory of the campaign at Nkana FC on Wednesday and have not met Buffaloes since the 2009 season.

Zesco United’s clash with Kansanshi Dynamos that was scheduled for Saturday has been postponed to 20 October due to national team call-ups in the former’s squad, though given the international window only starts on Monday it is a puzzling move.

Nkana FC will hope to return to winning ways when they travel to Indeni, who have two wins and a draw from their first four matches in what is a solid start to the campaign for them.

Nkana have six points from a possible 12 and have looked inconsistent, so it will be anybody’s guess which way this one goes, though Indeni won both fixtures in the last campaign and are unbeaten in six games against the Kitwe side.

Zanaco have started the season with just a single point from three games and will seek a first win when they welcome Prison Leopards. This fixture was a five-goal thriller last season that ended 3-2 in favour of the home side.

Kabwe Warriors, who finished four last season, have lost their opening three matches and will be desperate for a maiden win as they host Konkola Blades.

Forest Rangers travel to third-placed Nkwazi with the chance to go ahead of their rivals with a win, while Power Dynamos entertain Kafue Celtic.

Dynamos got their first point of the season at the fifth attempt in midweek, while Celtic pulled off a stunning 2-0 home win over Zesco.

There are also two matches on Sunday as Lusaka Dynamos host Buildcon and winless Red Arrows entertain Green Eagles, who have drawn their last three games.
