Nkana secure Confederation Cup place on final day

Nkana FC secured the final CAF Confederation Cup qualification place after the final round of matches were played in the 2021/22 MTN Super League season on Sunday.

Nkana claimed a 2-1 victory over already relegated Lusaka Dynamos to finish the season in fourth after Zanaco were beaten 1-0 by second-placed Zesco United.

Alex Ng'onga scored a brace of goals for Nkana, while Lusaka Dynamos netted through Larry Kuyula.

Nkana finish on 52 points, 18 points behind champions Red Arrows, and will join third-placed Green Eagles in the Confederation Cup next season. Red Arrows and Zesco will play in the CAF Champions League.

Adrian Chama’s header gave Zesco their victory over Zanaco to end the season on a high, while Red Arrows were 3-1 winners at relegated Indeni.

Freddy Tshimenga, Ricky Banda and George Mandu scored the champions while Chattaba Kabole grabbed a consolation for Indeni.

Green Eagles played to a 0-0 draw with Forest Rangers, while Kennedy Musonda, Joshua Mutale and Luka Chamanga netted for Power Dynamos as they defeated Green Buffaloes 3-1.

Prison Leopards and Kafue Celtic ended 0-0, while Tresor Ndaya and Aka Mwachiaba netted for Kabwe Warriors as they drew 2-2 at Chambishi. Konkola Blades and Buildcon ended with the same scoreline.

Blades, Indeni, Celtic and Lusaka Dynamos had already been relegated before the final day of the season.
