Forest Rangers twice came from behind to rescue a 2-2 draw with 10-man NAPSA Stars in the Zambia Super League on Wednesday, but ultimately missed out on the chance to close the gap significantly on the leaders.

Zesco United also missed the chance to go top when they were beaten 1-0 by Nkwazi in a surprise result and remain one point back in second place.

Fifth-placed Rangers are three points behind league leaders Prison Leopards, but do still have a game in hand in what is a tight top of the table.

Stars failed to move out of the relegation zone in what has been a poor start to the season from them, and they will be disappointed they could not take all three points having led twice in the game.

Enock Sabumukama gave Stars the lead two minutes before halftime, but Amenu Moro equalised for Rangers.

Sabumukama restored the lead for the home side, but when Daniel Adoko was red-carded for Stars, Rangers poured forward in search of an equaliser.

But Webster Muzaza popped up in the second minute of injury-time to equalise again for Rangers, much to the dismay of Stars.

Zesco would have hoped to go top but fluffed their lines at home as a penalty from Christopher Zulu settled the contest just before the hour-mark.

It is a second home defeat of the season for Zesco, while Nkwazi keep up their unbeaten away run that had seen them earn one win and four draws in their five games before Wednesday’s clash.
