Ethiopia Premier League leaders Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), also known as Ethiopia Nigd Bank, beat Fasil 1-0 on Saturday to extend their lead  to five points.

In an epic battle that remained goalless for almost the entire match, CBE finally got their break in the 83rd minute when Addis Gidey struck the winning goal to secureall three points.

CBE will benefit from the fact that their closest challengers, Mekelakeya, dropped points in their stalemate against relegated Shashemene City.

Mekelakeya came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw and must now hope the Bankers drop points with four games to go until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, St George returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Sidama Coffee

St George's lone goal came in 77th minute courtesy of their talismanic striker Amanuel Arbo to earn them all three points.

It is a welcome win for them in a week where third-placed Bahir Dar City dropped points following their goalless draw with Wolaitta Dicha.

The win moves St George to fourth spot on the log with 43 points, up from their former sixth position.

Sidama Coffee remain in 12th position with 31 points.
