The MTN Super League returns this weekend as leaders Zesco United look to bounce back from defeat last time out when they host bottom side Indeni on Sunday.

Zesco had made a fast start to the campaign before a 2-0 loss to champions Red Arrows, but still hold a four-point lead at the top of the table in the early season running.

They will expect to overcome an Indeni side who have taken a single point from the first 21 available this campaign and anything other than a home win will be a major surprise.

Arrows are five points behind Zesco but do have a game in hand and go to Napsa Stars on Saturday.

Arrows have had a patchy start to the campaign but their win over Zesco shows they have perhaps turned the corner as they seek back-to-back league titles. They have, however, lost three of their last four (D1) away games in all competitions.

Second-placed Kabwe Warriors host fourth-placed Green Buffaloes in a battle between two sides who believe they should be in the running for the title this campaign.

Warriors are one of two unbeaten sides so far this season, the other being Forest Rangers, and this will be a test of their qualities. Buffaloes’ last away win at Warriors was all the way back in 2018.

Mutondo Stars are flying high in third place, defying the odds, and host Forest Rangers hoping to inflict that first loss of the season on their opponents.

Stars have won their last three games in a row, so the international break came at an inopportune time for them, while Rangers ended a run of five straight draws when they defeated Lumwana Radiants last time out.

Both sides recorded a home win when these teams met last season.

FC Muza host Power Dynamos in another mouthwatering clash with both sides having made indifferent starts to the season, but having shown improved recent form.

In three previous meetings at Muza, there has been a win each and a draw.

Zanaco go to Lumwana Radiants with both teams in the relegation zone, though there is plenty of time to pull themselves out of trouble, while Nkwazi host Mufulira Wanderers in a battle of two more teams near the foot of the table.

In the other game this weekend, Atletico Lusaka host Green Eagles in a clash between two sides who have battled for goals so far this campaign.
